Product Feed

Definition updated April 2026

What is a product feed?

A product feed is a structured, regularly updated file or API response containing a retailer's product catalog data - typically including SKU, product name, description, price, category, image URLs, and availability status. Feeds are used to distribute catalog data to external surfaces like comparison sites, advertising platforms, and analytics tools.

For developers building tools that use retailer data, a live product feed API is preferable to a scheduled file download because it provides fresher pricing and availability without the overhead of managing file ingestion.

The quality of a product feed depends on completeness (are all fields populated?), freshness (how quickly do price and stock changes propagate?), and coverage (does it include all products or only a subset?).
