What is first-party data?
First-party data is data collected directly by an organization from its own customers and users - through website interactions, purchase history, account registrations, in-app behavior, and feedback. It is the most valuable type of data because it is owned outright, directly relevant to the business, and collected with user consent.
Examples include users' search queries on your property portal, purchase history in your e-commerce app, and the listings users save or share. This data is unique to your platform and cannot be purchased or replicated by competitors, making it a genuine competitive asset.
First-party data becomes more powerful when enriched with third-party data from APIs. Adding market context (current pricing trends, inventory levels, competitive benchmarks) to your own user behavior signals creates richer insights than either source alone.
