Data Analytics

Definition updated April 2026

What is data analytics?

Data analytics is the process of examining raw data to find patterns, draw conclusions, and support decision-making. It spans a spectrum from descriptive analytics (what happened?) to diagnostic (why did it happen?), predictive (what will happen?), and prescriptive (what should we do?).

Data analytics relies on clean, structured data as its foundation - which is why data quality, normalization, and pipeline reliability matter so much. An analytics product is only as good as the data flowing into it.

APIs and datasets are the raw material for data analytics products. Retail price tracking analytics requires reliable price feed data. Real estate market intelligence requires current listing and transaction data. The accuracy of analytical outputs depends directly on the freshness and quality of the underlying data source.
